The most important relationship of your life is the one you have with yourself. The relationship you have with yourself sets the foundation for all the other relationships you have in your life. We all know this, yet no one tells you how to create this relationship between you + YOU or put another way, between what you know about you and what you don’t know about YOU. It’s like a mystery, a nice to think about, dream about, but not actually experience it.
For many, this relationship is not cultivated or cherished. We are often last on our to-do lists, undervalued, and we ignore our own needs to meet the needs of others… thus our lives are more stressful than joyful. Until now. I have found a way to create this relationship between you + YOU, and it’s true… every relationship in my life changed, including my relationship with life itself, when I learned how to connect to my true self!
This concept is not new, it has been around since Aristotle’s time, and perhaps before. Jesus’ words also reflect this when he said, “Love your neighbor as yourself” Mark 12:31. In fact, this is called the greatest commandment. There is a reason these words are true and carry such profound wisdom. From this relationship with self all wisdom begins, and what you didn’t understand about life becomes understood.
This quote by Aristotle sums up everything I have come to experience in my own life when I applied those two words, Be Meaningful, to my life.
“The most important relationship we can have is the one you have with yourself, the most important journey you can take is one of self-discovery. To know yourself, you must spend time with yourself, you must not be afraid to be alone. Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” ~Aristotle
Before I learned to use those two words, Be Meaningful, Aristotle’s quote was just words, a wonderful sentiment, and now after I’ve used those words to connect to my true self and learned how to love myself those words are my lived experience of joy, love, peace, ease and grace.
Every relationship in my life reflects the relationship I have with myself. As I learned to value myself, know my gifts, struggle with my fears and learn new skills and most of all to understand human behavior comes out of this relationship with self, or lack thereof, my life feels magical and I live in awe and wonder each and everyday. It did not happen overnight, it took time to see my limiting and self-sabotaging patterns. Then it took time to install new, more empowering thoughts to change how my brain processed the world. Lastly, it took time to allow life to align with my new found love and acceptance of myself and see that all of my life’s struggles were necessary to help me gain this deep love and appreciation of myself and bring forth my gifts.
This journey within was documented by me and with each twist and turn I created a Be Meaningful To-do to bring forth what I was learning into a practical practice in presence so I could live the wisdom I was learning. This became The Be Meaningful Journey which I have created for anyone who wants to learn how to connect back to YOU and then have you + YOU become BFF’s forever.
Why did I do this? What was my motivation? My children. I was a mom who had no idea how to teach my children to love who they were and to be able to create a life they loved aligned with who they were so they could enjoy life on life’s terms. If I didn’t know who I was and if I didn’t know how to enjoy my life how was I going to teach my children? Thus I set out to find a way. What I didn’t know then that I know now is I had to love myself and shed my layers of self-doubt, fears, unworthiness for me to gain access to the goodness within me, there just waiting for me (See blog post on Don’t Forget About Me). I did this by having all I do Be Meaningful.
Life is a treasure, a gift and a blessing all because I took the time to go on a self-discovery journey within and learn to love myself and create a relationship with myself that I honor and cherish. You too can connect you + YOU and experience all the blessings life has for you if you want. Please check out the Be Meaningful Digital Card and/or the Be Meaningful Journey online course. Both offer you a way to connect you to YOU.
May your journey reveal YOU, restore your “original shine” and return YOU to joy… one meaningful to-do at a time.
XO, Kristi
