Where do I start? This is often a question I get asked over and over as when you look at your life there are so many areas to choose from, places to start. What usually happens is you pick a place, an area of your life you’d like to improve or change, then overwhelm sets in as you realize there is so much to change, then you go to what you have tried before to make changes and fear may come saddling up, then you get the gremlin thought “this is so hard” or perhaps “why is this still a problem in my life?!” or some other sabotaging thought that stops you before you have even started! Ugggg!
Well I’ve been there, and felt this way time and time again and can help you. I’ve figured out a few things I’d like to share to help you not only start, but finish, as in finally make the changes you want in your life to experience more joy, peace, purpose and possibility.
All change, no matter where you start, is about gaining access to your thoughts. It is our thinking that needs changing, not something in your life that needs to change or someone else. And your thinking is the common denominator to your life experience. You have heard it before, “change your thoughts, change your life.” Knowing this though, doesn’t mean you have experienced it.
I’d like to show you that change does not need to feel hard, scary or time consuming. Any area of your life that you choose to work on, to improve, to change the experience of, is the right starting place. Each of us will have a different starting point. It doesn’t matter as our problems come from our thinking, our limited, conditioned patterns of thinking. How you think is going to be universal to how you experience all of your life, even if you don’t yet realize it or know how you think yet? So a change in one thought in one area of your life will make a universal change in many areas of your life experience… thus overwhelm can take a back seat.
If you look at how you have tried to make changes before, look and see if you have tried by doing something externally like changing jobs, partners, diets, friends, routine etc… as the first thing? This is not bad or wrong, but it does make change hard and it also can make sustaining a change hard… you can’t stick to the external change long enough to create a wanted long lasting change.
So what to do instead? Gain access to your thoughts. How? Have all you do Be Meaningful.
You see if you want to make lasting changes and ultimately have the change be creating a life YOU love, you’ll have to change how you do what you do. The how is really equal to your thinking that has you do something, any to-do. For now, your task is to notice what you are thinking when you are doing what you do. You don’t even have to focus on the area you want to start on in your life, it can be any to-do on your to-do list… laundry, cooking, driving, brushing your teeth, getting up in the morning etc.. Pick one everyday to-do and see if you can gain access to what you are thinking before, during and after the to-do. Write it down, keep track of this in a journal of some kind if you can. You’ll start to see patterns, unconscious thoughts, that are running your life. Gain access to these unconscious thoughts and you can change your life.
So, where do I start? Start with getting to know your own thinking.
This is what I help you do. I help you gain access to your conditioned patterns of thinking that are keeping you stuck. I use what already exists… you, your life, your to-do’s to help you learn how to consciously create a life YOU love… one meaningful to-do at a time.
Love, Kristi
